OSCEOLA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Houghton County man is in custody after shooting a firearm inside a residence.
At approximately 3:00 a.m. on March 27, deputies from the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of gunshots inside a house on Montroal Road. Dispatch received information stating that three related individuals were inside the house.
As deputies arrived, the woman who had called 911 from inside exited the house. She told deputies that there had been a disagreement between her and her son. Her son then started shooting his gun inside the house. The woman’s son and daughter were both still inside.
The woman said that her son made threats to harm people if the police were called. Deputies secured the surrounding area and requested assistance from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Emergency Support Team. As the MSP team was en route, deputies safely got the second female subject out of the house.
