NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Negaunee Public Library has recently received a grant that will allow for the growth of its literacy programs.
A Slice of Literacy Grant from the Pizza Hut Foundation has awarded the library with $6,000, paired with another $2,000 from the Negaunee Friends of the Library to fund essential needs for its summer programs, while helping build new ones. This includes starting a new robotics club, and expanding the age groups for its book club opportunities.
“We’re hoping to draw even more people into the library for the summer reading program to get kids reading and retaining what they’ve learned over the summer, as well as just encouraging people to read for pleasure,” said Library Director, Jessica Holman.
Other programs like Summer Scares and the adult reading club anticipate more funds for books and prizes. The library’s summer reading programs are set to begin the week after schools get out. More information can be found at the Negaunee Public Library’s Facebook.
