HANCOCK, Mich. (WZMQ) – Visit Keweenaw has opened applications for its 2026 Destination Development Fund.
This annual initiative aims to support local groups looking to make an impact the Keweenaw’s continued visitor and residential growth, through trail projects, historical displays, and downtown upgrades. The program will spread over $100,000 across up to $20,000 for each accepted application. This involves a one-to-one matching grant, with a project completion goal of September 30th.
“For some, funding is such a hard thing to come by, and a lot of the newer applications we see are for sites who haven’t applied for funding before,” said Jesse Weiderhold, Visit Keweenaw managing director. “These projects are very impactful, especially for locals who get to enjoy them often, and visitors.”
Applications are due by March 31, and can be found here.
