MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Valentine’s day is just around the corner!
Among others, Forsberg Flowers of Marquette is ready for one of its busiest times of the year. However, florist LouAnn Balding says with both the harsh winter creating a questionable growing season, along with a community mindset focused on another slew of events this weekend, this year’s Valentine’s Day foot traffic likely won’t pick up until the end of the week.
“I think Marquette doesn’t even realize that Valentine’s Day is on Saturday,” she said. “I know when they realize what’s happening, we’ll get slammed, and we’re prepared for that.”
The flower shop specializes in customizing their bouquets, with a wide variety of reds, whites, and pinks for the special day, as well as offering deliveries throughout most of Marquette County. Balding says that sticking to the local scene for an order is what sets them apart from an online shop — as online orders become increasingly more popular.
“We strongly believe that the best thing you can do is to call your florist directly,” she said. “We know what’s in our cooler, what’s available, and pricing.”
To be sure to receive your Valentine’s Day flowers, chocolate, or any sort of custom gift by the end of the week, communication ahead of time will ensure a spot on that list.
