ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Delta County man faces potential decades in prison for possessing drugs and fleeing police in 2025.
During a traffic stop last March, Escanaba Public Safety officers attempted to arrest Ernest Wayne Dillabough on a felony warrant. Dillabough fled the scene, driving at a high rate of speed near Escanaba High School as classes were being dismissed. Officers stopped their pursuit to protect pedestrians, but they later arrested Dillabough with the help of a citizen who spotted him.
On Wednesday, Dillabough pled no contest to one count of possession of methamphetamine and one count of fleeing and eluding law enforcement. The charges would typically carry combined penalties of up to 15 years in prison. However, because Dillabough is a habitual offender, he faces up to 30 years total.
Dillabough is scheduled to appear in court for sentencing in May.
