ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – This summer, the City of Escanaba had to cancel its Fourth of July fireworks due to weather. The Recreation Department made up for it with a winter display on New Year’s Eve.
The community gathered in Ludington Park ahead of the firework show, which started at 9 p.m. Cars lined Loren W. Jenkins Memorial Drive, Lake Shore Drive, and surrounding streets to watch. Families enjoyed sledding in the park, with several sleds provided by the Kindness Rocks U.P. Little Free Sled Library.
Prior to fireworks in the park, the Recreation Department hosted a family fun day at the Catherine Bonifas Civic Center. For updates on future recreational events in Escanaba, follow the City of Escanaba Recreation Department and Marina Facebook page.
