MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Leather jackets and shopping carts filled the Meijer in Marquette as members of a local motorcycle club took over two checkout lanes, loading up on toys for local kids. This year marks the highland clan motorcycle club’s 27th annual toy drive, raising an average of around ten thousand dollars each holiday season.
Much of the money raised goes toward local efforts, including the salvation army through the mining gazette’s cheer club. The President of the Highland Clan Motorcycle Club, Mike Ridenour, says that it’s vital to give to those who are less fortunate this wintry season.
“It’s a priority because none of us have had an awesome life,” he said. “So it feels good to be in a spot where we can raise money and give back to the community.”
Club members say they spent more than six thousand dollars on toys during this stop alone. All donations will stay local, helping provide gifts for children across the Marquette area this holiday season.
