LANSING, Mich. (WZMQ) – A former State representative has announced his candidacy for a Michigan Senate seat that will soon become available.
Current State Senator Ed McBroom will meet his term limit at the end of 2026. On Tuesday, former representative Beau LaFave created a Facebook post stating his intention to run for the open seat.
LaFave served in the Michigan House for six years until he hit his term limit in 2022. The Republican noted in his announcement that while in office, he introduced articles of impeachment against Governor Gretchen Whitmer, fought against vaccine mandates, and was vocal in his opposition to gun control.
LaFave joins fellow Republicans Representative Dave Prestin, Rock educator Chris Reynolds, and Democrat Delta County Commissioner Kelli Van Ginhoven in the race for the Senate.
