MARQUETTE, Mich. (WMZQ) – An upcoming public candidate forum will be held for candidates running for the Marquette Board of Light and Power (MBLP) and the Marquette City Commission, on September 30 at 6:00 p.m. in Marquette’s City Commission Chambers, 300 W. Baraga St.
Moderated by the League of Women Voters of Marquette County, (LWVMC) participating candidates will answer from the same list of questions submitted by constituents of the public and both boards, as well as get the chance to meet with members of the community.
“We like to hold these to allow for candidates to get together in non-partisan way,” said Jo Foley, convener for the League of Women Voters of Marquette County.
Two potential positions are looking to be filled on each board, after voting in November. With three candidates running for each seat, the LWVMC is still in its process of gathering them together for the public event. More information about upcoming local ballots can be found at vote411.com.
