ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – Residents in Ishpeming had a chance to meet directly with both state and local leaders during a “Coffee and Conversation” event earlier today in Ishpeming
State Sen. Ed McBroom and Ishpeming City Council member Jason Chapman hosted the gathering at the U.S. National Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame.
The event was designed to allow community members to hear updates from the state and city levels, voice concerns, ask questions, and discuss ideas with their elected officials.
Among the many topics discussed was Senator McBroom’s opinion on the likelihood of the state budget passing anytime soon.
“My honest expectation is that we’re very unlikely to have a budget agreement by the end of the month. I think it’s likely to go on until October 1 or October 2 before that happens,” said Senator McBroom.
McBroom went on to report that much of the proposed budget’s emphasis is on fixing Michigan’s roads. He also outlined his plans for the remaining 16 months of his term in office.
