MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The 26th annual Ore to Shore (O2S) Mountain Bike Epic kicked off Friday evening. Hundreds filled Lakeview Arena for the Negaunee Lions Club Spaghetti Feed, registration for the races, and plenty of merchandise to go around.
Organizers say the communities efforts are what make the races so special each year, and hope for some extra hands on deck this weekend.
“One of the best aspects of this race is actually how the Marquette community embraces it,” said O2S Race Coordinator, Nicole Swenson. “We just want to say thank you to all of the community, our sponsors and our volunteers, and we’re still looking for volunteers for tomorrow, for our youth races.”
So far, the six races will feature around 2,500 riders and counting. The race schedule is as follows, starting on Saturday, August 9.
- 8:00 AM Lakeview Arena, Marquette: 10 mile Shore Rock
- 9:00 AM Lakeview Elementary, Negaunee: 28 mile Soft Rock
- 10:00 AM Iron Street, Negaunee: 48 mile Hard Rock
- 4:00 PM Lakeview Arena: 4 mile Junior Rock
