MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Music on Third made its return Thursday night.
Almost the entirety of North Third Street, from Arch Street to Kaye Avenue, closed from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Throughout the evening, musicians from the surrounding area lined the sidewalks and business-fronts, as thousands wandered and watched from the empty street.
With the mid-summer start, the Marquette DDA has compromised with an extra hour of music this year. This allows for staggered performances, more pay for musicians, and more time for folks to check out all 17 groups.
“The DDA books 14 bands, other businesses book their own,” said Marquette DDA Outreach and Promotions Director, Michael Bradford. “We have folk, classic rock, hard rock, strings, a whole load of different genres here tonight.”
Music on Third will take place each third Thursday in August and September. The next event will be on August 21, starting at 6 p.m. More information can be found at downtownmarquette.org.
