Norway man sentenced for sexually assaulting two minors

LANSING, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Dickinson County man will serve time in prison for criminal sexual assault of minors.

On July 7, 24-year-old Trentin McWilliams of Norway—and most recently residing in California—was sentenced to 8 to 15 years of incarceration for sexually assaulting two minors. McWilliams’ sentencing was announced by Attorney General Dana Nessel.

In May, McWilliams pled no contest to second-degree criminal sexual conduct for sexually assaulting a child at a relative’s residence in 2018. He also pled guilty to two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct for assaulting a 14-year-old girl in a vehicle in October of 2022.

McWilliams was extradited to Dickinson County in September 2024 by the U.S. Marshals Service as part of Operation Survivor Justice. The Operation is a partnership between the Michigan Department of Attorney General, local county prosecutors, and the U.S. Marshals Service to locate, apprehend, and return to Michigan fugitive offenders with outstanding sexual assault warrants.

“This Operation Survivor Justice conviction is a powerful example of what this partnership can accomplish,” Nessel said at the time of McWilliams’ plea. “Through our work with the U.S. Marshals Service and the Dickinson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, we were able to deliver accountability and a measure of justice to the two courageous individuals who came forward.”

Following completion of a prison sentence, McWilliams would be subject to electronic monitoring and sex offender registration.
