GLADSTONE, Mich. (WZMQ) – One of Downtown Gladstone’s newest businesses celebrated its grand opening on Thursday.
Saunders Point Brewing held a ribbon cutting with the Delta County Chamber of Commerce, local officials, and community members. Since opening the doors in December, owner Jacob Mills says the community has been overwhelmingly supportive.
“It’s fun watching people walk through the door and actually stop and kind of see what this place has become,” he said. “Before, it was dark and dreary. Now, we’ve got this inviting space where you can fit 150 people here comfortably. It’s been great.”
The brewery offers a rotating menu of handcrafted beers, and the building is big enough to house large social gatherings and public events. It took several years to get Saunders Point from a dream to a reality, so Mills says he is glad to see it become a part of the community.
“We started this as just a group of three guys that thought it would be nice to have our own brewery in town,” he said. “We’re still trying to catch up on things and learn stuff, and it’s been a wild ride.”
Later in the afternoon, Saunders Point held an early Fourth of July celebration and released two special-edition beers.
