Escanaba Public Library’s ‘Live on the Lawn’ music series returns for another summer

ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Escanaba Public Library has kicked off its annual live music series.

Live on the Lawn takes place from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on select Thursdays throughout the summer. The community is invited to watch free performances by a variety of artists while enjoying lunch—whether packed at home or purchased from food trucks parked outside the library.

Jazz artist Patrick Booth performed for a large crowd on opening day. Food was provided by Wildmans Munchie Mobile, and Main Squeeze offered specialty lemonades.

The concert series began five years ago after the pandemic lockdowns. Library Assistant Jane Lynch says it quickly became a community-favorite event.

“We were trying to let people know that the library is open and it’s still a community hub,” Lynch said. “The most popular events were live music events. People want to come out, enjoy the weather, enjoy the lakefront, enjoy being with people and hearing live music. It just seems to be really becoming part of the whole Escanaba scene.”

The next Live on the Lawn performance, featuring the Cloverland Band, is scheduled for July 3. To see the full lineup of Live on the Lawn events, click here or visit escanabalibrary.org.

Imagine never having to pay property taxes again. The proposal would eliminate property taxes statewide, allowing homeowners and businesses to own their land without any ongoing government fees. But with property taxes funding everything from schools to public safety to roads, the big question is—where will that money come from? The plan calls for a bigger slice of state sales tax to be redirected to local governments. To help cover the gap, the petition also shifts 10% of state income, marijuana, alcohol, and tobacco tax revenue to cities and counties. sot Opponents OF THE PLAN worry it could jeopardize local funding. The petition is now gathering signatures for a spot on the 2026 ballot.
