MANISTIQUE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Three individuals were treated for injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash in Manistique.
At approximately 11:39 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, the Manistique Public Safety Department responded to a two-vehicle head on crash on US-2 near Chippewa Avenue. Based on the dispatch information, support units from the Michigan State Police, the Schoolcraft County Sheriff Department, the Sault Tribe Police Department, and Manistique EMS immediately responded to the location.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2017 Toyota Camry being driven by a 75-year-old female from Alanson, Michigan turned into the path of a 2024 Toyota Venza, which was traveling westbound on US Highway 2. The Venza was being driven by a 49-year-old female from Garden, Michigan. Both drivers and a 14-year-old front passenger in the Venza were transported to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital by Manistique EMS.
Traffic flow was maintained on US-2 with the assistance of the support police agencies while medical personnel attended to the injured. The driver of the Toyota Camry was later transferred by Manistique EMS to UP Health Systems Marquette for life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash. Both the driver and passenger of the 2024 Toyota Venza were released from Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Manistique Public Safety Department is still investigating the crash.
