ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – A week-long effort to keep Escanaba looking its best began on Monday.
The annual Esky Cleanup runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. each evening. Groups and individuals are invited to meet at the Downtown Marketplace before heading off to clean different parts of the city, like the beach, parks, and downtown.
Esky Cleanup staff will have trash tongs, rakes, visibility vests, and other supplies for volunteers to use while they pick up litter. The event will wrap up with a party from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 16, to celebrate a job well done.
Each year, organizers say Esky Cleanup helps to get the city ready for summer tourists. It is also a way for those involved to take pride in their community.
Registration is not required, but anyone interested in cleaning a specific part of Escanaba is encouraged to sign up online by clicking here.
