Hiawatha Wellness to host Mind, Body, Spirit Fair in Escanaba May 3

ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – This weekend, a free event is offering attendees a holistic approach toward wellness.

On Saturday, May 3, Hiawatha Wellness will host its annual Holistic Mind, Body, Spirit Fair at the U.P. State Fairgrounds. Vendors will be selling jewelry and crystals, giving massages, doing Henna tattoos, and providing tarot readings, Reiki and energy healing, and other forms of alternative wellness.

Debra Martin, a Reiki master and the owner of Hiawatha Wellness, says the event has grown every year. She believes more people are becoming interested in holistic services.

“I think people are realizing that instead of dumping eleven pills at a time down your throat, there are things that you can do,” Martin said. “You can do meditation; you can learn breathing. You’ve just got to reach out and ask these people, ‘What do you do? How can you help me with this?’ Breathing and meditation is amazing if people can form their habits to do that.”

Denise Dufek, a fellow Reiki master and wellness coach, will host a workshop during the fair. She says it will be a hands-on experience focused on energy work and intuition.

“It’s about helping people realize that we all have a sense of intuition if we just learn how to recognize it and use it, and we’re energetic beings,” she said. “I studied Reiki, moving energy in that way, but martial artists talk about Chi. It’s the same thing. We all have an essence.”

The Holistic Mind, Body, Spirit Fair will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Ruth Butler Building. Click here for more information.
