ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Thursday, a month-long fundraiser supporting the Delta Couty Cancer Alliance kicked off in Escanaba.
There was a packed house at Cat-Man-Do’s, host of the first Pink Fest event. Patrons enjoyed specialty pink drinks, played games, and learned from breast cancer educators.
Prior to the event, local organizations and individuals purchased bras to decorate for the Bras for a Cause contest. Attendees could purchase votes for their favorite bras, with all proceeds going to the Cancer Alliance.
Delta County Cancer Alliance President Gayle DeShambo was thrilled with the turnout for the first Pink Fest event. She says the Cancer Alliance is grateful for the support of the businesses hosting them.
“I want to give a really big shoutout to Cat-Man-Do’s,” DeShambo said. “They’ve opened up this place for us, they’ve allowed us to come in and put these bras up. They are so amazing. They’re so committed to doing what’s right for our community and to share the resources that they have to help us all work together as a strong community growing stronger together. Thank you, Cat-Man-Do’s!”
The Rapid River Pub will host the next Pink Fest event on Thursday, October 10. Pink Fest will conclude at Chenier’s Reef on Thursday, October 17.
