IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – Downtown Iron Mountain’s first of the summer Out-to-Lunch event faced an unexpected twist. Coordinators were caught off-guard by a sudden downpour but chose to stick with the outdoor venue. Despite the rain, the folk duo ‘Flagship Romance’ from Kentucky delivered on their promise, turning the event into a real-life Singing in the Rain. Unsure if anyone would brave the weather, the band started playing, and Iron Mountain DDA Event Intern, Aaliyah Melbrath, shared her reaction to the surprise shower:
“It was too late to move it, because it was already 11, and it was supposed to start at 11:45. My shoes were getting wet, I didn’t like that, and I don’t know how much I’m going to like sitting in the wet. Oh! It looks like it’s calming down. It’s not pouring as much.”
Finally, the sun did come out, and Downtown Iron Mountain enjoyed its first summer concert of the year. Next week, the local One Human Band takes the stage at 11:45 Central time.
