MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Hockey fans are getting excited for an upcoming game through United Way, and it doubles as the organization’s biggest fundraiser.
The United Way of Marquette County launched its Yoopers United Hockey Team Tuesday night at Third Coast Pizzeria. The team will compete against the Detroit Red Wings Alumni team in September.
The event had door prizes and the chance to get autographs from the local team. Yoopers United players returning this year noted that the game last year ended in a tie — an outcome they say will not be repeated this year.
“It’s just so cool to actually see them, once they started trying, how good they really are, and it’s just a good perspective to see why they were where they’re at. I still think we’re going to win, but I guess we’ll find out,” commented returning Yoopers United player Wolff Belanger.
Tickets for the upcoming game will go on sale in June. Click here, to show your support for United Way of Marquette County.
