MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – During a social media investigation regarding narcotics and child sexual predators in the Upper Peninsula, troopers investigated a suspect residing in Ishpeming Township.
A Michigan State Police trooper posed as a minor on an investigative social media account. A 49-year-old male from Ishpeming Township began conversing and soliciting to meet for sexual relations in exchange for methamphetamine.
An in-depth investigation was conducted.
The suspect, Bryan Scott Ahtonen, was arrested on January 22nd, and lodged at the Marquette County Jail on charges of possession with intent to deliver, three counts of using a computer to commit a crime, accosting a minor for immoral purposes, and child sexually abusive activity.
Ahtonen was arraigned in the 96th District Court on January 23rd and is scheduled for a Probable Cause hearing on February 1st and a Preliminary Examination hearing on February 8th.
