HOUGHTON, Mich, (WZMQ) – This Friday is the second part of the Keweenaw’s Sustainable Tourism series.
This session will be at the Rosza Center for the Performing Arts, featuring Rozsa Center Director Mary Jennings who will be talking about sustainable practices in Michigan’s performing arts.
Visit Keweenaw’s Public Relations and Events Coordinator Jesse Wiederhold said the series is about keeping the UP a great destination for years to come.
“Getting ahead of the tourism right and taking advantage of that,” said Wiederhold. “It’s there, it’s happening so how can we keep that being sustainable? How can we sustain ourselves as a destination, how can we preserve what we have as the Upper Peninsula, as a greater whole, to keep people coming here and make that a good thing.”
Visit Keweenaw plans to continue its Sustainable Tourism series in another two months, with talks about sustainable lodging.
