ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Friday, U.P. Health System (UPHS) Hospice honored veterans throughout Delta County.
Staff visited veterans at LakeHouse Escanaba, Lakeview Assisted Living, and Christian Park Village, as well as individual veterans’ homes. They presented each veteran with an American flag pin.
“We partner with an organization called We Honor Veterans,” said Rachel Camp, Account Executive for UPHS Hospice. “The pin is there as a reminder of the sacrifices for the flag and for our country.”
Camp and UPHS Hospice’s volunteer manager led veterans in the Pledge of Allegiance and thanked them for their service.
“It’s really important because they gave so much to our country and to our community, and this is just a small way of saying, ‘Thank you,'” Camp said. “Every part of their life is memorable, and we honor and respect them and are just so thankful for their sacrifices.”
Throughout the day, UPHS Hospice presented pins to about 50 veterans.
