NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The next steps are being taken in the efforts to save the historic Vista Theater in Negaunee.
Tonight the PAAC advisory board met to continue their work of finalizing the theater’s transfer to the city of Negaunee. The theater is carrying significant debt from the repair work that has already been completed on the building which had its roof collapse in 2020. Up to date the PAAC board has spent over $120,000 to maintain the theatre.
The city of Negaunee has proposed it will become responsible for the debt if and when the transfer of the building to city ownership is complete.
The city sent a transfer agreement to the group earlier today which will now need to be negotiated on and agreed upon. The city of Negaunee will discuss the vista theater transfer during its August council meeting.
