CHASSELL, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Copper Country community is getting its fair share of sweet holidays starting this weekend. It’s the 75th annual Copper Country Strawberry Festival hosted by the Chassel Lions Club that starts tomorrow in Chassell Centennial Park.
There’s the vendor fair, the queen pageant, and of course the famous strawberry shortcakes and the horse wagon rides for the community to enjoy. The Lions Club says they anticipate selling over 5 thousand strawberry shortcakes.
“We anticipate we’ll go through 183 flats of berries or 14, 64-courts of berries for our shortcakes alone. People come back year after year and you see friends that are out of the area that have come back and they know this is a great weekend to be in Chassell and the weather’s gonna be beautiful,” commented Chassel Lions Club President Ross Rinkinen.
Parking has been difficult in previous years, and this year the Lions Club is offering a shuttle service.
