GWINN, Mich. (WZMQ) – The VFW in Gwinn has started some renovations with the help of a few volunteers. Last night, the post raised $3,000 at its raffle fundraiser for the building.
Leadership at The VFW say they’re trying to update the space, to make it comfortable for younger veterans and the Gwinn community. Still recovering from the pandemic, The VFW post is working on breathing some new life into the space with the help of some volunteers. Alan Cook, Adjutant with Post 5670 says The Post is planning some new events for the summer as well.
“We’re painting over this old yellow paint and turning it gray, kind of updating the building.” Cook Says, “Today was great, we had 8 or 9 fold here today, we had folks come in today that I haven’t seen for a long time and just want to come in and help so, it’s been great.”
The Gwinn VFW will be continuing Work Wednesdays as they update the space for the next two Wednesdays from 9am until 4 pm.
