RRN to host 2nd annual Sport & Rec Show this weekend

ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – An event for outdoor sports enthusiasts returns to Escanaba this weekend.

The 2nd annual Radio Results Network Sport & Rec Show will take place April 7 – 9 in the Ruth Butler Building at the UP State Fairgrounds. Coordinator Mike Daniels says after last year’s turnout, he knew the show would become a tradition.

“The response was enormous,” said Daniels. “In a lot of cases, last year was the first chance people had to get out and do anything since COVID, so it was really well-received.”

More than a dozen vendors from around Upper Michigan and Northeast Wisconsin will have products on display, including side-by-sides, boats, and motorcycles.

“Having an event like this gives them a chance to show their wares all in one place and kind of spotlights everything that they have,” Daniels said. “It’s another way that we can connect our listeners with their potential customers, so it’s important for us.”

Family-owned business Cycle City Inc. has provided power sports equipment in Escanaba since 1968. Manager Eric Malmsten says the Sport & Rec Show is the perfect way to reach new customers and interact with other vendors.

“It’s a great opportunity to have people come out on a weekend–when otherwise we would be closed–to see the products and all of our competitors,” he said. “It’s usually a good camaraderie between ourselves and the other dealerships from around the area.”

The show is also a chance for outdoor enthusiasts to potentially save some money on their next purchase.

“Usually the shows are the best deals of the year,” Malmsten said. “We’ve got some good rebates on some of our products, so it’s a great time to buy.”

For an early taste of summer, you can visit the RRN Sport & Rec Show on Friday from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Tickets are $2 for adults and $1 for children ages 12 and under.
