MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Spring is officially here, and for outdoor recreational activities throughout the Upper Peninsula, that means we’re approaching mud season.
Trail conditions and terrain will start to see the impact of the changing weather, and recreationists should know what to expect before hitting the trails.
Travel Marquette is one resource that regularly updates trail conditions, which can help when planning for an outdoor adventure.
Susan Estler, CEO of Travel Marquette, shares her best tips when encountering everchanging weather.
“Do check the weather because make sure you do dress for the conditions you know you never know what’s gonna happen,” she said. “It may cold in the morning and warm in the evening. Right now, we are getting this snow rain mix.”
Trails are often shared by several different outdoors enthusiasts, and as the weather begins to warm up, there will be more anticipation for when the warm weather activities are going to begin.
And when we start seeing some warmer days approaching, Estler said, “Everybody is just waiting for that opportunity to do that transition. When it is going to happen this year, not really sure and you are never really quite sure. We still could get 2 feet of snow in April. You just don’t know and you just kind of roll with it.”
