LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Workforce grants to provide funding for the training of Michigan EMS personnel.

The focus of the program is to establish, implement and operate workforce development programs. The programs will be tasked with training people in emergency medical services to address the critical shortage of paramedics statewide and to increase accessibility to EMS educational programming, specifically paramedic programs, in Michigan.

Applicants should be currently licensed municipal or private EMS agencies, including Tribal agencies seeking to increase their workforce or their training; currently approved Michigan EMS education programs; or programs seeking to be accredited or to become an approved education program. Fiduciaries may apply on behalf of these entities.

The eight-month award period begins Feb. 1, 2023 and ends Sept. 30, 2023.  MDHHS expects to award approximately $9 million, with a maximum of $350,000 for a single applicant.

Grant applications must be submitted electronically through the EGrAMS program by 3 p.m. on Dec. 21, 2022.

A pre-application conference will be held to discuss this funding opportunity and provide instruction on using the EGrAMS system. The pre-application conference will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1, beginning at 1:30 p.m., and will last approximately 90 minutes. The conference can be accessed at https://tinyurl.com/4khpmw5e.

For more information or to apply, visit the EGrAMS website and select “About EGrAMS” link in the left panel to access the “Competitive Application Instructions” training manual. The complete RFP can be accessed under the ‘Current Grants’ section under the “Public Health Administration” link and selecting the “EMSW-2023” grant program.
