MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The 2022 Marquette Turkey Trot was held this morning at the Marquette Senior High School with donations going towards the MSHS orchestra.
The annual race was organized by the MSHS orchestra and business classes. While donations went towards the orchestra, the business and technology classes created the marketing materials and logos for the event.
Despite the race being a way to support the orchestra, the race also brought out family and friends to spend time together on the holiday morning.
Joanne Swann and family come from Grand Rapids to visit family and this is their fourth year participating in turkey trots.
“You know we get to be with family so it’s a great time for us to drive you. It’s sort of become a tradition to drive up, spend time with my children and grandchildren and participate in [the turkey trot] so it’s just a lovely time,” Swann said. “Thank goodness this year’s weather is nicer, I’m grateful for that.”
At the time of writing, the Marquette Turkey Trot raised $500 towards the orchestra.
