Kitty Capelle’s Spooky Art Show

by Sophia Murphy
October 28, 2022

The Winter Green Hill in Marquette is featuring a new guest artist this weekend.  now that the summer fair season is over, art showings at local galleries are crucial for local artists.

Kitty Capelle of Hope-Dreams Art is a local artist showing off her spooky ghost paintings this weekend as a guest artist at Winter Green Hill.

Capelle’s reception and her paintings will be on display from 6 until 8 pm this Saturday at The Winter Green Hill  studio on third street here in Marquette, costumes are encouraged.

having my work in a gallery is something I never thought was going to happen to me. I started painting again in 2020 because of the pandemic and you know, you get sad and a little bit bored, well, not a little bit bored, a lot a bit bored. and now seeing it on the wall in a gallery, I’m so proud of myself

Kitty Capelle

On top of supporting growing artists, galleries create a community for creative individuals, Alice Holcomb is a local artist who specializes in sewing winter gear from recycled cotton.

“The friendships and the support and you know, we just all help each other out and then I’m always proud to say that I’m part of this gallery.”

Alice Holcomb

Marquette is home to many galleries that create home for the vibrant artist community year round.

“Artists love to create, we can create, and create, and we just love to do it but we need an outlet.”

Marc Himes

Capelle will be showing off her work at Winter Green Hill gallery this weekend, her cute and spooky ghosts will be on display.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve kind of taken what should be dark and scary and unsettling, and made it into like this joyful silly thing. there’s power in taking those dark things and making them approachable and making them something that you some at, that brings joy.

Kitty Capelle

The diverse and unique community of artists has moved indoors for the winter, and galleries will be hosting guest artists and hosting receptions to keep showing off the talent within our community.
