Marquette Mich. (WZMQ)- Bluff Street and Mcclellan street in Marquette will be repaved soon. Currently the roads are being repaired during the city’s annual road maintenance projects.
The roads are being repaired periodically in order to maximize the lifetime of the road. If the city does not perform the preventative maintenance the roads will deteriorate at a much quicker rate and require even more projects.
Mikael Kilpela the Marquette City Engineer said of the project’s “Essentially if we resurface streets periodically we can extend the life of a road and get 50 to 60 years out of a road.”
The roads are set to be repaved starting today and should be finished by Friday, depending on the weather. At no point will either of the roads currently being worked on be completely shut down. City crews will take shifts paving sections of the roads and flaggers will be on site to direct traffic.
