by Andrew Hoover
July 28, 2022
A A

MARQUETTE – On the corner of Washington and Front Street, Tara Laase-McKinney spraypaints the number 48, where the vendors from Flagstar Bank will set up shop tomorrow morning alongside 85 other vendors for the annual Blueberry Festival. Laase-McKinney, who is the Executive Director for the Marquette Downtown Development Authority, will be up bright and early “putting the finishing touches on our preparations” for the festival that will run from 10AM to 7PM on Friday, July 28th.

Over 80 vendors will be on the streets serving all sorts of blueberry themed food, drinks, crafts, and apparel. Everything from “cinnamon rolls to cupcakes”, “savory dishes to…blueberry themed cocktails and beers.” Local downtown eateries will also be joining in on the events by serving their own blueberry themed dishes; such as The Vierling, Lagniappes, and Trenary Toast Cafe. Numerous downtown shops will also be offering major promotions on goods during the festival. Live Music will also be playing all ay long, events for kids and families will be up and down the festival, and of course, there will be plenty of blueberries to go around

The festival will be located on the 100 block of Washington Street, as well as the 100 and 200 block of Front Street, and parts of Main Street. Drivers will need to move their cars before the morning, and no overnight parking will be permitted Thursday night on any of the aforementioned roads. Parking for the festival will be available at all of the usual City lots in downtown, including the Bluff Garage and Main Street Lots.

Information on vendors, businesses, music, parking, and more can be found on the MDDA website.
