U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow announced a pledge of more than $1.2 million to Michigan rural healthcare providers Wednesday.
The funds will be distributed to three northern Michigan hospitals including Munising Memorial Hospital Association.
Munising Memorial will receive $195,680 for a new computed tomography (CT) scanner.
Funding was secured through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Emergency Rural Health Care Grant program which was created from American Rescue Plan funds.
“Our rural healthcare providers are on the front lines of this public health crisis and have been challenged like never before,” said Sen. Stabenow in a statement. “This investment will help them keep up with the needs of their communities and increase access to quality healthcare.”
