MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) — WZMQ 19 and the Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum announce a new sponsorship supporting several major local events.
WZMQ and 19 News will sponsor these events produced by the museum in 2024:
- Painting the Town with Love on June 25
- Second Annual Baraga Block Party on Aug. 18
- Celebrity Art Auction in December
Painting the Town with Love takes place during Art Week in downtown Marquette. It’s a children’s favorite as they decorate the sidewalks along the Marquette Commons.
August’s Baraga Block Party is intended to be enjoyed by the entire family and features face painting, inflatable, music, yoga, games, a dunk tank and more. More than 1,000 guests joined the inaugural block party last year.
Celebrity Art Auction includes a live auction with unique art pieces or experiences contributed by local celebrities. Hundreds of patrons will be involved.
In addition, the station will sponsor the Culinary Journey in January 2025. The fundraiser showcases delicacies from the region’s finest chefs in addition to hand-picked wines, craft beer and live music.
The Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum is designed for visitors of all ages. The museum offers cultural and educational exhibits reflecting the diverse interests, history, culture and heritage of the area.
WZMQ 19 is the Upper Peninsula’s CBS station. The station is adding projects, partnerships and sponsorships to support area events, activities and non-profit organizations.
“Having WZMQ show their commitment to supporting our community with this year long sponsorship is truly inspiring,” said Jessica Hanley, executive director of Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum. “We are thrilled to have them join us in empowering children through interactive learning experiences. With their generous support, we’re poised to make this year’s events more impactful than ever before, touching the lives of countless families in the Upper Peninsula.”
“We couldn’t be more pleased to support such an impressive and important local organization and one that supports learning, family values and the development of children,” said Brian Trauring, representative of WZMQ 19.
These events and other museum activities will be covered thoroughly on 19 News, WZMQ19.com and the WZMQ news app.
