HARVEY, Mich. (WZMQ) – The need continues to grow for Feeding America across the Upper Peninsula.
Feeding America returns this Thursday at 10 am to Silver Creek Church in Harvey. Kevin Taylor, Lead Paster Silver Creek Church, has had about 30 of these events over the past 2 and a half years and has steadily seen an increased interest in the need for food. The number of families receiving aid through this program has grown from the original 200 boxes to 500 boxes distributed monthly. People begin lining up as early as 7:30 am on Thursday to secure food for their family.
Kevin Taylor, “We see people walking up with wagons, we see people riding bikes and pulling wagons to get their food. So, I think I think, the overall cost of things has really played into the sense of urgency that people have.”
Taylor expressed the heartbreak in having to turn away families due to running out of food as early as 10:30 am due to the line already started as early as 7:30 am. Silver Creek Church will have their last Feeding America for the year on December 8, 2022.
