Huskies’ Captain joins Wheeling Nailers
WHEELING, West Virginia – Michigan Tech hockey captain Jack Works has signed with the Wheeling Nailers in the ECHL. Works played in 105 games over the past three seasons for the Huskies.
Works, a native of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, began his collegiate career with the Denver Pioneers, appearing in 15 games. In his three seasons in Houghton, Works tallied 52 points with 23 goals and 29 assists. He tallied 17 points in his first season, a career-high 20 last season, and 15 in 2024-25.
Works was named the captain of the Huskies as a senior and is a CCHA All-Academic Team member. He helped lead the Huskies to a CCHA Mason Cup Championship as a junior and was named the MVP of the 2023 Great Lakes Invitational after a hat trick in the title game to lead the Huskies to their 12th title. He has received the team’s Rick Yeo Unsung Hero Award in each of the last two seasons.
Wheeling already has former Huskies Logan Pietila, David Jankowksi, and Matthew Quercia on its roster and is the ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Nailers are seventh in the ECHL Eastern Conference standings with a 33-20-3-1 record and plays their games at Wesbanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia.
