NMU second at Women’s GLIAC Swim/Dive Championships

Seconds and thirds in final day of event

HOLLAND, Mich. – The NMU women’s swim and dive team wrapped up competition from the GLIAC Championship, finishing the week in second.

The Wildcats finished the post season with a silver medal as a team, amassing 753.5 points over the week and trailing only Grand Valley with 1096.5.

Today featured the 1650 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 backstroke, and 400 freestyle relay, with the ‘Cats claiming five medals today.

NMU opened the day with a pair of podiums in their first event, claiming silver and bronze in the 1650 free. Annika Wright finished second with a time of 16:56.50 followed by Anika Geyer in third at 17:00.03.

NMU followed up the pair of podiums with a bronze medal in the 100 free. Becca Burrows posted time of 51.17 to earn her third medal of the week.

Mia Strazny followed up her teammate with a medal of her own, claiming silver in the 200 backstroke with her time of 1:58.93.

The wildcats capped off its week with a bronze medal in the 400 free relay, as the team of Burrows, Donna Hannig, Strazny, and Elena Curti posted a time of 3:25.59 to cap off the week.
