MARQUETTE, Mich. – After winning back-to-back GLIAC Tournament championships, four Wildcats have been named to the 2024 GLIAC Women’s Soccer All-Tournament Team.
2024 GLIAC Defender of the Year and All-GLIAC First Team member, Hannah Kastamo, earned a spot on the All-Tournament team for the first time in her career. The junior defender started in all three postseason matches, where she recorded two assists against Michigan Tech and an assist in the championship game, playing the full 90 minutes in the semifinals and the championship, and helping the ‘Cats to only conceed one goal in three games.
All-GLIAC First Team member Justina L’Esperance had a dominant postseason to earn her first all-tournament team selection, scoring five goals and 10 points in three contests to lead all athletes in goals and points. A starter in all three contests, Justina scored two goals against Michigan Tech in the quarterfinal match, a goal against Davenport on Friday, then another brace on Sunday in te championship game. Justina was extremely efficient, scoring five goals from eight shots and six shots on target
GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year and All-GLIAC First Team member, Brooke Pietila, earned her third consecutive all-tournament team honors. The midfielder started in all three matches, recorded her second multi-assist game of the season with two assists against Michigan Tech in the quarterfinal, scored a goal and assist against Davenport in the semifinal, and played the full ninety minutes in both the semifinals and finals.
All-GLIAC First Team selection, Molly Pistorius, earned her third-consecutive all-tournament team selection, as she recorded at least one point in all three postseason contests. A starter in all three, Molly opened with an assist agianst Michigan Tech, recorded her third multi-assist game of the season with two assists agianst Davenport, then scored the game-winning goal and an assist against Saginaw Valley in the championship match, her fourth game of the season where she has recorded at least a goal and an assist.
The Wildcats now await the NCAA Selection Show to determine where the team will be heading this weekend to open the 2024 NCAA Tournament. The selection show will take place tonight, Monday, November 18, at 7 p.m. Fans can tune into ncaa.com to watch the livestream.
