Wildcats win 40-10
ALMA, Mich. – The Northern Michigan wrestling team was victorious in its first dual of the season, defeating Alma College 40-10 at Art Smith Arena.
It’s an improvement over the last clash between the two back on February 6, a 33-13 NMU win.
Five Wildcats picked up victories by fall, each adding five points apiece to the team score. At 124, Zhivanna Magdaleno picked up five points with a victory by fall with 2:57. Sam Chaon picked up her victory at 1:33 in the 138 weight class. At 145, Alissa Caltagirone emerged victorious at 2:37. Sophia Bassino added another win at 160 at 4:03 and Clarissa Wangen got her victory at 0:53 in the battle at 180.
At 207, Ozi Ogu added another victory for NMU and an additional five points.
The Wildcats would add points via forfeit at the 117 and 131 weight classes while Alma won by forfeit at 103 and picked up a victory via fall in the battle at 110.
