MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Upper Peninsula Construction Council is calling for high schoolers in the Marquette area interested in trades work this summer.
Applications for the 2026 Building Trades Summer Camp are now open online through April 30.
Students ages 14 through 17 are encouraged to apply. Each student will complete a resume building and interview skills workshop, before the UPCC and Michigan Works! will accept 30 applicants to experience five weeks of hands-on opportunities in ten different job types. Students will be paid $14 an hour with a $200 completion bonus at the end of the camp.
“The goal is to create pathways to success, whatever that may be,” said UPCC Executive Director, Mike Smith. “This is designed to give them at least a brief experience working with all the trades across the U.P.”
This year’s program will run from July 6 through August 5. All students must be committed to its full extent and have reliable transportation from at least 45 minutes to Marquette. More information can be found here.
