MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Economic Club of Marquette County held its monthly dinner and meeting this evening at the Holiday Inn in Marquette.
Alison Todak, the Vice President of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, gave the keynote address for tonight’s dinner.
Todak spoke about the benefit of having several research universities within the state and how collaboration with these institutions is helping a variety of business and tech startups across the state in a wide variety of fields.
“We’ve seen so many great inventions coming out of our one universities, stage one research, and we have four of those in the state. Some states are lucky to even have one. So the opportunity that we have, even here in the Upper Peninsula, with Michigan Tech, is a great pipeline for those inventions and new companies,” said Alison Todak, Vice President of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
Todak said that even though investment capital is increasingly harder to come by, Michigan continues to be a place where start-ups can thrive, because the state values innovation and places a priority on being at the forefront of technology and its continued funding.
