NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Another round of lake effect snow, coupled with high winds and below average temps, made for a challenging day across Upper Michigan today.
Snow blowers, plows, and snow shovels were out in force today, digging out from the fast-moving storm.
Schools across the area were closed today, including Marquette, Ishpeming, Negaunee, and Northern Michigan University.
The difting snow and a dangerous wind chill forced many businesses to close early or not open at all today.
Icy road conditions, along with poor visibility due to blowing and drifting snow, made for hazardous driving and whiteout conditions throughout the region.
Several flights in and out of Sawyer Regional Airport were either delayed or canceled due to the weather, and many civic events scheduled for today were also canceled.
