LANSING, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Marquette man will serve prison time for first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
On Tuesday, 69-year-old Ward Glass was sentenced in Houghton County’s 12th Circuit Court to 25 – 50 years of incarceration for sexually assaulting a minor multiple times between 1993 and 1996, while they resided in the same Houghton County home. Glass was convicted by a Houghton County jury of six counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct in October.
“Coming forward to report a sexual assault takes extraordinary courage,” said Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. “I commend the survivor in this case for her strength and the Michigan State Police and prosecutors in my office for their diligent work in pursuing this case and securing this conviction. My office will continue to stand with survivors and pursue justice, no matter how much time has passed.”
The victim filed a complaint with the Michigan State Police in 2024, when she encountered Ward nearly three decades after the assaults. Ward was charged by the Department of Attorney General in September 2024.
