MANISTIQUE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Manistique Public Safety is searching for an individual accused of robbing a Manistique store on Monday.
At approximately 7:35 p.m., Manistique Public Safety officers responded to a robbery at The Apple Barrel convenience and liquor store on Deer Street. Upon arriving, officers learned that a single male entered the store, contacted the employee working, and after a short conversation, demanded all the money. The employee cooperated with the suspect’s demand and turned the money over to him. The man then left the store on foot, ran across Deer Street, and continued north on North 1st Street. The Apple Barrel employee did not sustain any injuries.
Officers immediately began canvassing the neighborhoods surrounding The Apple Barrel with assistance from the Michigan State Police. Businesses in the area were alerted about the situation and were asked to call the police if anyone suspicious was seen on their property.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’7″ – 5’9″ tall, weighing roughly 225 – 260 pounds. He was wearing black pants, a navy-blue light zip-up jacket, and gray athletic shoes. No other distinguishing features could be noted, as he concealed his identity by wearing the jacket hood over what appears to be a knit winter hat and a winter face cover.
The public is asked to contact the Manistique Public Safety Department at 906-341-2133 with any information about the man’s identity.
