ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Delta County Sheriff’s Office is making the public aware of scams going around this holiday season.
According to the sheriff’s office, the scammer requests that victims return cell phones that were purchased “due to an error.” The victim is asked to call back for instructions and is offered financial compensation. Officials say that if anyone receives such a call, they should contact their cell phone provider.
Citizens are also advised to be wary of messages claiming that there is a problem with a Christmas delivery, fake shipping notifications with requests to confirm information, and links requesting payment, account login information, or personal details.
