MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Economic Club of Marquette County held a dinner Monday night, focusing on the growth of the City of Marquette.
The meeting began with an informational presentation on the Marquette Area Public Schools (MAPS) upcoming bond proposal from Superintendent, Zack Sedgwick.
This was followed by the evening’s main speaker, Marquette City Manager Karen Kovacs, discussing updates in housing, roads and infrastructure, and the city’s future.
The Economic Club of Marquette County is made up of local organization and educational leaders, and meets once a month. Kovacs says the dinners are a meaningful way to generate stronger partnerships and bring out community awareness, all over a well prepared meal.
“To collaborate and brainstorm especially at the dinner table is a really important part of these partnerships that we have,” she said. “We’ve got big projects that wouldn’t be possible without these partnerships, and with these events, we get that opportunity.”
The next Economic Club dinner will be held January 19. For a list of upcoming speakers, visit marquetteeconomicclub.org.
