HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech women’s basketball sophomore guard Kendall Standfest has been named the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for week four, the league office announced on Monday.
The honor marks the first of the sophomore standout’s career.
Standfest, a native of Elk Rapids, Michigan, helped the Huskies earn a weekend sweep to open GLIAC play with wins over Roosevelt (64-48) and Parkside (65-60) to move to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the league. For the weekend, Standfest averaged 11.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 12 on defense, while adding two blocks and two steals.
Standfest recorded her second double-double of the season with 11 points and 13 rebounds at Roosevelt, the seventh of her career. She tied the team-high of two steals and a block while adding four defensive rebounds in the win over Parkside–the first road win over the Rangers in program history.
Standfest and the rest of the Huskies take to the road for a non-conference matchup at Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday, slated for a 2:00 p.m. tipoff.
