Three goals led the conference over the weekend
MARQUETTE, Mich. — NMU hockey forward Caiden Gault has been named CCHA Forward of the Week, announced by the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) today.
A native of Oakbank, Manitoba, the senior alternate captain scored three goals over the weekend, pacing all CCHA forwards in goals scored.
Gault opened the weekend against Bowling Green by scoring the ‘Cats first goal in the 3-2 win on Friday, then followed that up with NMUs first two tallies in the 3-4 OTL on Saturday, with one coming on the power play. Gault recorded nine shots and a 33.3% shooting percentage to go with a +1 rating and average 17:29 time on ice.
The Ferris State transfer brings his season goal total to eight, which leads the Wildcats and is good for T5 among CCHA goalscorers. Gault is on pace for 16 goals at the midway point of the season, which would be one more than his career best he set last season.
This also marks the second time Gault’s career where he has earned a CCHA Forward of the Week honor. His first came at the end of last season, when he netted four points (three goals and an assist) in the final weekend of the 2024/25 regular season against the Wildcats.
The ‘Cats now bring some momentum back home, and will close out the 2025 calendar with a series against St. Thomas at the Berry Events Center this weekend.
